Dakishimeru Made

JapaneseRomajiEnglish
choppiri chotto no samishisa ga
itsushika namida ni kawaru you ni
choppiri chotto no tsukareta o
misenai you ni koraeru kimi
aa demo ne wakatteru yo
honto wa ne tte, muri shitetan da
kimi o dasanai you ni
So that a little, tiny bit of loneliness
can someday turn into tears
You endure a little, tiny bit of tiredness
so that no one can see it
Ah, but I know
The truth is, you’re pushing yourself
so that you don’t let yourself out
nee nee kiite kure
hitorigoto da
demo tashika ni sa
kimi wa yasashii
samishii koto mo tsurai koto mo
kitto kitto dakishimeru kara
Hey, hey, listen to me
I’m speaking to myself
But it’s true,
you are kind
Because you surely, surely hold close
both the loneliness and the pain
nani mo wakannakute
mienakute mo
demo shitteru yo
kimi wa yasashii
samishii koto mo tsurai koto mo
kitto kitto dakishimeru made
Even if I don’t know anything
or can’t see anything,
I know
You are kind
You surely, surely hold close
even both the loneliness and the pain
shoujiki ni ikirenakute mo
jouzu ni kyou o waraenakute mo
kizutsuita hibi kako no yoru o
kitto kitto dakishimeru kara
Even if you can’t live an honest life,
even if you aren’t able to laugh at today
You’ll surely, surely hold close
the many wounded nights of the past
きっときっと愛せるようにkitto kitto aiseru you niYou’ll surely, surely be able to love them

  1. Yeeessss, MIMI’s songs are always great. Thank you so much for the translation!

I think it’s more like “Even if you can’t live honestly” or “Even if you can’t live an honest life.” When 正直 means “to be honest,” we tend to use it like 正直に言うと or just 正直, and I don’t think 正直に could mean “to be honest.”
